Privacy & terms

DevSiteMetric is a set of free tools. There are no accounts, no ads and no third-party trackers. In short: your documents are used to run the check you asked for and are not kept.

Documents you upload

Copy QA and HTML Cleaner: the DOCX or TXT file is sent to our server, read in memory to run the check, and discarded when the result is sent back. It is never written to disk.
Before a DOCX is uploaded, your browser replaces its images with tiny placeholders, so image files never leave your computer.
We do not read, keep, share or train anything on your documents.

Pages the tools fetch

Copy QA, SEO Audit, Take Backup and HTML Diff (live URLs) load the page you enter on our server, use it for that result and do not store it.
HTML Diff with pasted HTML runs entirely in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
Screenshots are saved on our server so you can download them, and are deleted automatically after 24 hours.
The tools only fetch public web addresses; private and local network addresses are blocked.

What we keep

Visitor count: a cookie with a random ID (dsm_vid, two years) counts each browser once. With it we keep the first and last visit date, the number of page views, the last page viewed and an approximate city and country, looked up from the IP address with an offline database. The IP address itself is not stored.
Messages: what you send through the contact form, including an email address only if you enter one, so we can reply.
Server logs: our web server keeps standard technical logs (IP address, time and page requested) for security and troubleshooting. They are rotated and deleted on a regular schedule.
In your browser only: your theme, text size and Copy QA writing rules (brand names, style rules, words to allow) are saved in your browser's local storage and never sent to us except with a check you run.

We do not sell or share any of this, and we do not use advertising or analytics companies.

Your choices

Block or clear cookies for this site to stop being counted; every tool still works.
To have a message you sent deleted, ask through the contact form.

Terms of use

The tools are free and provided as they are, without warranty. Results are automated checks: review them before acting on them, especially before a launch.
Only check pages and documents you are allowed to access, and do not use the tools to overload or attack any website.
To keep the service fast for everyone, very heavy or automated use may be slowed down or blocked.
We may change the tools or these terms; the date above shows the latest version.
